
Michael Barnier who is the head of the EC (European Commission), which is responsible for implementing the EU laws that are concerned with online gambling, has issued a warning to the regulators of European Gambling. This warning indicated that the EC is going to have to take actions that could include court actions as a response for the non compliance of the rules and policies of the EU. This is not the fist statement to be issued by the EC through Michael Barnier. He has made a resembling statement while he was addressing the European Parliament.
According to reports, Michael Barnier was in a meeting on The Rock. In this meeting he was talking about what the EC is planning concerning the regulation of online gambling. He also laid a serious threat to all of the operators. This threat stated that if the operators insist on not implementing the rules and the policies if the EU, serious actions will be taken. He said that the regulators of online gambling are going to work with the operators in order to define the legal framework that the operators should operate within. Such framework is going to provide the players with a safe gambling environment and will offer them maximum protection. He also stated that the rules of the EC must be followed and implemented.
Michael Barnier has stated that the EC is going to schedule an action plan in the upcoming autumn in order to regulate and supervise internet wagering and gambling effectively.
