First Day of the 43rd WSOP’s Main Event

The first day of the 43rd WSOP’s main event has passed with having 657 participants left from a huge entrance list that contained 1066 players. The first day was a good day for some and it was sad for others who had to leave the competition and lose their buy in fee of ten thousand dollars. Some of the big names that got eliminated after the first day are Phil Helmuth who has won 12 WSOP bracelets, Kathy Leibert, Eric Froelich, Raymond Rahme and the winner of the 2005 main event Joe Hachem. Phil Helmuth commented on his departure from the main event through his Twitter by saying that he was very sick that Maniac was wining every poker hand with K-9 + Q-8.

One of the people who survived the first day was Pius Heinz, the champion of last year’s event. He stated that the first day was very hard and it was a complete rollercoaster. He said he didn’t win one pot for the 1st 6 hours and his chips were down to 10k by the time for the dinner break. He almost though that he was going to get eliminated in the first day but that didn’t happen as by the end of the day, the poker professional from Germany was able to achieve a strong comeback. He ended the day with a chip count of forty thousand. The list of the surviving players includes Filippo Candio, Faraz Jaka, David Williams and Eric Baldwin.
