Belgium and Bwin.Party

Bwin.Party has issued an update on the detention of CO CEO of the company, Norbert Teufelberger in Belgium.  He was detained for questioning when he was attending an EGBA event in Brussels, Belgium. The first statement that was issued by the company confirmed the news and stated that the CO CEO volunteered to attend the interview and fully cooperated with the authorities. It also stated that the interview included representatives from the Gambling Commission of Belgium because according to the commission, Bwin.Party is breaching the legislation of the country.

Bwin.Party’s update stated that the company has always maintained its position in complying with all applicable laws and that it only operates in legalized and regulated jurisdictions. It also stated that the interview lasted for 2 hours and after the interview was over, Norbert Teufelberger left Belgium. Lastly, it stated that the company is going to continue its talks with the Gambling Commission of Belgium.

The CO CEOs of Bwin. Party Jim Ryan and the recently detained Norbert Teufelberger has stated that they are surprised by the investigation because the company has been at the front of all of the changes in regulations in Europe for many years. They also added that the company is licensed in Spain, the German Schleswig-Holstein, Italy, France, Denmark, Alderney and Gibraltar. They ended the joint statement by saying that the company will always strive for a framework in European Member States that does not conflict with the European Laws when it comes to gambling.
