Cantor Gaming, the in-play betting, gaming and mobile software and technology provider has been reported to have filed a lawsuit against a major UK based online gambling operator, William Hill. Cantor Gaming claims that William Hill in Nevada has poached its trade secrets as well as potential customers. According to reports, this lawsuit was filed this month in Clark County District Court. It stated that William Hill has poached privileged info that exclusively belonged to Cantor Gaming after it has acquired Brandywine Bookmaking LLC two years ago in 2011.
Brandywine Bookmaking was a bookmaking firm that was founded in 2008 by Joseph Asher after he left his position as Managing Director at Cantor Gaming. This bookmaking firm runs sixteen sports book in the state of Nevada under a brand that is called Lucky. It was recently acquired by William Hill for a total of 15.7 million dollars.
Due to this fact, Cantor Gaming claims that William Hill, through its acquisition of Brandywine Bookmaking is going to benefit from Joseph Asher’s experiences and usurpation of business ideas as well as opportunities that rightfully belong to Cantor Gaming. Cantor Gaming believes that the UK based firm was acting in concert with Joseph Asher and Brandywine Bookmaking for this objective.
In response, Joseph Asher has refuted Cantor Gaming’s allegations by stating that he has cleared Cantor’s business plan with the executives of Cantor Fitzgerald LP before he left it in 2007 to establish Brandywine Bookmaking. Cantor Fitzgerald LP is the Wall Street firm that is behind Cantor Gaming.
