A New Proposal to the OLG to fix the Ottawa Casino Problem

Ottawa city council has already decided that it will support the issuing of the license to build a casino to the Rideau-Carleton Raceway rather than to the location that was proposed by the Ottawa Senators that is owned by Eugene Melnyk. This caused Eugene Melnyk to feel like that the decision was unjust. This is why a new proposal has been proposed that might solve this problem.

This solution might be the answer to the problem of the Ottawa city casino license. This proposal is going to go in motion and will be presented to the council sometime next weekend. This new proposal will ask the OLG to create another casino zone. This way, the OLG will give licenses to two different casinos in two different zones. Currently, the Lottery and Gaming Corporation of Ontario is only licensing one casino in one zone.

Rick Chiarelli, who is a councilor on the city council stated that this motion that will come forward is the perfect solution because it is a compromise that will fix this problem and that any reasonable person will be able to accept and be happy with. He also added that he believes that this solution will solve the issue and accomplish what the different parties need. This means that Ottawa Senators will be able to open the casino in one zone and that the Rideau Carleton Raceway would be in its micro zone where it will still offer slots and will be able to add twenty-one gaming tables that it has proposed.
