Ex-Midfielder from Liverpool, Hamman Reveals Lost of £288,400 on a Single Gambling Bet

Last week, Dietmar Hamman, the former star football midfielder of Liverpool and Machester City surprisingly revealed how he managed to loose a staggering amount of £288,400 on one gambling bet.

This German-born former football star, who has been a major contributor in bringing the Reds to a glorious 2005 Champions League, ha revealed that he used gambling as a source of distraction from his marital problems.

Hamman, currently a football website betting columnist, has been addicted to spread betting in order to get away from the frustrations he felt due to problems on his marriage. Maybe because of this betting addiction, he suffered a big loss in a bet for a cricket match between South Africa and Australia.

Hamman stated in his autobiography he entitled “The Didi Man”, that he turned to spread betting because it allowed him to keep his thought away from the problems. He further explained that, since his main was engaged elsewhere he gets to forget all the devastating things that he was feeling inside.

“The Didi Man”, on the other hand, is currently being serialized in the Daily Mirror.

The night of the big loss, Hamman said that he bought £2,800 at 340 runs for Australia. This bet means that for every run over 340 the player wins £2,800, but looses the same amount for every run under. The sad thing happened, Australia crumpled at 237 and it had cost Hamman the now infamous £288,400 lost.

The former football star also related that he thought he was being stabbed in the heart and by the end of the evening it was like he had been scalped. That was the start of the new beginning for Hamman, the next day; he decided to change things for the better.
