Manitoba Couple Win $1 million in the Western Max Draw

The newest millionaires created by a lotto ticket in Manitoba are from Sagkeeng First Nation and they won a total of one million dollars in the Western Max Draw. Jeremiah Courchene and Winola Canard are the two lucky millionaires, they were given the one million dollar cheque on Thursday and they were very happy and excited about the prize. They are the first residents of Manitoba to win one million dollars in the Western Max lottery game, which is a regional lottery that was launched for the first time last March.

Canard has stated that this is their first ever lottery ticket as they have never bought one before but she decided to buy a few tickets for the 21st of June draw from the Wal-Mart Good to Go that is located on Empress Street. She said that she bought a 9 dollar pack that included a 9 dollar Lotto Max ticket as well as a 3 dollar Western Max Ticket. Each one of these tickets had 3 Quick Pick selections and had an extra number entered. When she checked the ticket at a store clerk, he said that they won 1,000 dollars but he paused for a second and said that it might be one million dollars and not $1000. She said that she was shocked and that she did not believe it, up until she took the cheque, she was still in a state of disbelieve.  She still can’t process that they became millionaires. They are planning to get a new house and start their own cooking business as well as helping the community of Sagkeeng.
