Ottawa Council Picks the Rideau Carleton Raceway as a Casino Site

The owner of Ottawa Senators, Eugene Melnyk, has expressed his intention before that he wants to sue Ottawa and the council of the city because they made the decision to support the Rideau-Carleton Raceway as the only casino establishment site. 10 years ago, Eugene Melnyk bailed the Ottawa Senators when they nearly went bankrupt. Eugene Melnyk is a rich businessman who made his wealth through his pharmaceutical business. The hockey team that he bailed out 10 years ago is still not making money and this is why the businessman was trying to build a new casino next to the hockey team so he can bring in the revenue that the hockey team failed to bring.

He also made sure to make it clear that he is not going through any financial problems but the team needs a good source of income. This is why he made his bid to build a casino at Kanata as it was a great solution to the revenue problem. There was indications that the city would shut down his proposal which is now certain since the council of the city has stated that it will support the proposal of the Rideau Carleton Raceway location for a new Ottawa Casino over his casino proposal at Kanata.

This decision was made by the councilors of the city of Ottawa and the Mayor of the city, Jim Watson. They voted that the only location that they will support for a new Ottawa casino is the Rideau-Carleton Raceway.
