Rob Ford, the Mayor of the city of Toronto has left his office on the 21st of May after finding out that the city council has made up its mind and that the voting regarding the new Toronto casino was over. The council voted against the construction of a new mega casino in the Canadian city of Toronto. This is a major strike to the Mayor because he was known for his support to this casino and he was doing all what he can in order to have this casino approved. This also represents a great loss in possible revenues that the city would have gotten if the mega casino was built. In fact, Mayor Rob Ford has been advertising the idea of the casino for a few months now and he claimed that it would bring the city great revenue.
The council of the city of Toronto is always divided when it comes to voting on big decisions but when it came to the new mega casino, they all came together and they voted against the new casino and the establishment of gambling sites in the perimeter of the city.
This was not the only matter that the council voted against as it also voted against any expansion of gambling at the city’s racetrack. Although the majority voted against it, this vote was much closer than the first one as the entire council was not overwhelmingly against the idea.
