Toronto Residents Asking for a Referendum Regarding Toronto Casino

The battle for the Toronto Casino is still waging, this time, the residents of the city of Toronto are trying to take matter to their own hands. The Toronto residents are reaching out for their mayor in order to call for a citywide referendum that should determine whether a new casino should be built within the borders of the city or no.  They are calming that such decision will have a tremendous affect on the families living in the city and the city itself. This is why they say that the matter should not be settled by the 44 councilors only because Mayor Rob Ford is already in favor of this mega casino.

The councilors were going to vote on the subject of the new casino last week but Mayor Ford interfered and pulled the voting from the councilors’ agenda as he was hoping to buy more time to be able to build more support for the casino.

It is pretty clear that the city of Toronto is divided on the matter as there are people who are supporting the casino and others battling against it. This casino is expected to be established either on the CNE waterfront in Downtown Toronto or at the Rexedale Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.

The people who are supporting the casino are doing it because of the economical benefits that such investment will bring. It will also create job openings for Toronto residents as well as the generating revenue to the entire city.
