Tabcorp, one of the biggest online gambling groups in the Australian market has stated through its most recent reports that more than twenty percent of its internet wagers are made from cell phone channels. This indicated the importance and the pivotal role that is played by the mobile channel in the booking business.
The reports also indicated very mixed results despite the great success of the company in its online gambling division. The net profits from its online operations reached three hundred and forty million American dollars a year until the 30th of June of this year. While the net profits for the previous financial year of 2010-2011 was equal to 534.8 million American dollars. This is a direct result of the demerger of many of its casinos business last year. As for the continuous operations, the profit increased by 12.7% higher than the number that was achieved in 2011/2012 which was equal to 301.6 million American dollars. This was also a result of the demerger of several casinos.
In the financial year of 2011/2012, the company’s internet betting operations resulted in a turnover of 2.16 billion American dollars which is an increase of 14.5% when compared to the turnover of the previous financial year. On the other hand, the turnover of the wagers done through call centers and on course wagers decreased by 6.8% and 6.3% respectively.
The management of the company states that the increase of online operations was only normal because people have started to embrace online wagering and prefer it over the traditional on course and phone wagers.
