The Tour de France started with a chaotic beginning on June the 29th with a few crashes that happened in the opening stage’s 213 kilometers that started from Porto-Vecchio and runs to Bastia. These crashes included a Canadian entry that is called Ryder Hesjedal. Thankfully, the Canadian was able to overcome the crash and escaped the injury.
This year, there are total of three Canadians riding in the most prestigious cycling race in the world. One of these players is the one that was mentioned earlier who succeeded to survive a crash without injury, Ryder Hesjedal. The other two players are Svein Tuft who plays for team Orica-GreenEDGE and David Veilleux who plays for team Europcar.
The rider who is most touted to the winner is Chris Froome who is born in Kenya, raised in South Africa and is a UK citizen. He has been selected as the favorite by one of the biggest UK sportsbooks and gambling operators, William Hill. He has odds of 4 to 6 and he is ahead of other great names such as Joaquim Rodriguez whose odds are equal 14 to 1 and Alberto Contador whose odds are equal 3 to 1. Despite being the favorite, the outcome of the race is very unpredictable because of the rough terrain and the great amount of great bicycle riders in the race.
