The Edgewater Casino has announced that it is planning to relocate to the BC Place. The casino that is located in Vancouver is currently placed at False Creek. This move was announced 2 years ago because the council of the city refused to give the casino permission to carry out its casino expansion. The announcement regarding the relocation of the new casino to its new location was made on the newly launched website that was launched by Paragon Gaming. The announcement was made by the BC Pavilion Corporations which is known as PavCo and the operator that operates it, Paragon Gaming.
PavCo owned the stadium in which the casino is expected to be relocated as well as the adjacent lands to that stadium. Paragon Gaming and PavCo have already signed a lease contract that gives PavCo a total of 3 million dollar income every year in rent.
The proposal for a major casino expansion that was proposed in 2011 included a 500 million dollar expansions was rejected by the council of the city and the mayor. This is why the casino is relocating, if the proposal was approved, Edgewater casino wouldn’t have moved but it would have doubled its casino operation size.
This agreement is not yet finalized, as stated by the spokesperson of Paragon Gaming, Tamara Hicks, stated that they are still having discussions and negotiations with numerous potential partners but she did not make any statement concerning the partners.
