During the hearing of the  Senate Indian Affairs that is concerned with the gambling issues that has an effect on the Indian tribal operators, more than one witness stated that the legislation by the federal law was the chosen method in order to make sure that the state-by-state patch of laws and regulations doesn’t progress.

It was also done in order to make sure that the tribes would get a chance to get into the action without having to pay taxes on their revenue and without having their sovereignty compromised.

Bruce Two Dogs Bozsum, the chairman of the Mohegan tribe stated in front of the committee that the Tribal operators are not encouraged and are in fact hesitant to lay down the future of their business and the future of their economy in the hands of the 50 states of America.

He also mentioned that many of these states are having financial problems and are desperately looking to get revenues which could lead to taxation of the tribal operators’ revenues. He also added that the Mohegan tribe has put in a lot of time and effort in order to reach a proposal that is concerned with the regulation of online gambling.

He said that the regulations that are going to be implemented are very tough and they don’t exist in any other place in the world. For example, the new regulations and standards that started to get implemented recently in the state of Nevada.
