Rene Allard Appeal Denied by the Ontario Racing Commission

Rene Allard has filed an appeal some time back to the ruling that was made by the Racing Commission of Ontario. This week, the appeal was denied by the commission upholding its original stance. The horseman has filed this appeal against the decision that was taken by the commission resulting from a blood test that was taken on the 13th of November of 2012. Resulting from that blood test, the horseman was fined and suspended because the horse that he was training tested positive for the usage of drugs.

Millions of dollars are spent annually on horseracing; this includes the betting on the races. This is why the Ontario Racing Commission is taking serious actions against any usage of drugs in order to guarantee the integrity of the sport. It also looks into every single situation before and after appeals. Following the first deliberation by the commission regarding the appeal of Rene Allard, he was suspended for 7 days and he was fined with a total of 500 dollars.

The reason behind that is that Veal Marsala, who is a horse that Rene Allard has been training was tested for drugs and the results came back positive for furosemide, which is a very well known drug that is used illegally by horse trainers. This test was taken on the horse after he has come out as the winner of the Georgian Downs race on the 13th of November of 2012.
