Betting on the Super Bowl can be quite easy, but it is not that easy for Canadians. This is because Canadians will have to pick their favorite Super Bowl Team and place parlay bets which means that their bet can be a losing one by the kick-off of the match. Sadly, this is the only legal option available for Canadian sports gamblers.
This could change entirely if Bill C290 succeeds into being written into law. If the Canadian senate agrees and votes to pass the bill, it will give Canadians the chance to place single bets on the matching events at legal bookmakers. This way, they will not have to turn to offshore or illegal bookmakers to place such wagers. This new bill will amend the Canadian criminal code and it will permit the Canadian provinces from offering Canadians the chance to offer single event bets. This bill would change the entire landscape of the gambling business and one can only imagine how cities like Vancouver and Windsor would look like during one of the greatest sporting events, the Super bowl.
The CEO of the CGA, Bill Rutset stated that border cities like Niagara and Windsor would have a clear competitive advantage. He stated that casinos could offer bookmaking services and the seats in such casinos will be full and the streets of the city will be busy and it would bring a lot of revenue to the city, as tourists will be eager to book hotel rooms. The CGA also pointed out that the current Canadian law regarding sports wagering is outdated as it was developed way before the world understood or ever knew what the internet is. This is why it needs to be updated as it will be beneficial to the country as well as providing Canadians with a legal and a safe environment for sports betting.
