The Windsor Chamber of Commerce is doing its bets in order to support the C 290 Bill by putting pressure on Ottawa in order to pass the bill into law. This new bill is going to allow Canadians to place single bets on sports. The CEO and president of Regional Chamber of Commerce of Windsor-Essex, Matt Merchand, has told lawmakers that Windsor is going to benefit greatly from such bill that would expand sports wagering.
Matt Merchand stated that such new bill that would allow for tax free winnings from gaming, Caesars Windsor will have a great competitive edge in the market of sports betting. He also added that such bill is going to provide and create job opportunities and great economic benefits as it will give people a lot of reasons to come visit Windsor and get a hotel room to spend their weekend while enjoying single sports wagering.
Currently, according to the laws and regulations, Canadians can only place bets on multiple games and they can’t place a bet on a single game. This is why this new bill, the C-290 bill will change the entire landscape of the sports betting market in Canada. The bill has already succeeded in passing parliament but it has been stuck in 3rd reading by the senate since December of 2012. This is why politicians are trying to build support for the bill so it can be passed into law.
