Will the C-290 Bill Legalize Online Gambling?

Online gambling is currently illegal in Canada, unless players are placing their bets on an online casino website that is licensed locally by the provincial government or run from an Indian reservation. Of course, these websites are not varied and well rounded like traditional online casinos. This is why despite the fact that there are many types of online gambling websites available, most Canadians prefer to enjoy gambling at other offshore websites that belong to major online casinos.

Of course, this is illegal, on the other hand, players can do it without any fear of being pursued legally. The new bill, the C-290 Bill is proposing to make changes to section 207-4-b of the criminal code, which means that it could put an end to illegal online gambling in Canada. Although this bill will only change sports betting related laws as it will allow single sports betting, it will also open the door for more changes to the legal system of Canada that can allow online gambling in the country.

A MP spokes man stated that the approval of the C-290 bill will enable Canadians will make it safe and secure for Canadian to place sports wagers without having to go to offshore operators or sports books that are owned and operated by organized crime. This will also mean that millions of dollars will stay in the Canadian economy and it will support jobs and communities. This is why it is gaining a lot of support in communities as well as the Canadian Gaming Association.
