Kathleen Wynne, Ontario Premier has stated that her govt. is going to launch a review that will discuss all of the aspects concerning the modernization plans of the lottery corporation of the province. In other news, the Chairman of the OLG (Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp.) is not going to continue in his position and it has been reported that there is a list of candidates that are expected to succeed Godfrey’s position as Chairman of the OLG.
The expansion and privatization strategy of the OLG included a new casino that would be located in Toronto’s Downtown. Kathleen Wynne has previously ordered the Crown agency to give up any plans that would cut Toronto a unique financial deal in case the city council supports and approves the establishment of the casino.
When Kathleen Wynne was asked at the Ottawa University about the shortlist, she stated that she is looking into all of the issues that are related the modernization plans so they get it right. As for the questions about Mr. Godfrey’s appointment, it was sidestepped and it asked reporters to address the Ministry of Finance’s office.
The minister of Finance, Charles souse, has given hints that Mr. Godfrey may not continue as chairman and that he might step down before his 5-year term expires. It is suppose to expire in February of 2015. He also stated that he did not make any decision yet and that there is no shortlist.
